Barrington & Sofrana Building in Auckland

Published date:2023/9/14 3:52:22

In the heart of Auckland's Central Business District, the Barrington & Sofrana building stands as a testament to the city's rich history. Steeped in history, the Barrington & Sofrana Building has a story that spans several decades. Originally constructed in the early 1900s, the building served as a hub for trade and commerce, reflecting Auckland's rapid growth as an economic powerhouse. Throughout the years, it witnessed the city's transformation and played a significant role in shaping its urban landscape. The Barrington & Sofrana Building underwent careful renovations, preserving its historical charm while incorporating modern amenities. HDL provided Smart Lighting Solutions for the building which creates a seamless and sustainable environment for its occupants.

Smart Lighting Solutions:

One of the cornerstones of this transformation is the comprehensive control of lighting throughout the building. From common areas like corridors, stairways and lobbies to exterior lighting, every aspect of illumination is being meticulously managed. The key features of the lighting control system include:

Daylight Harvesting:

Maximizing the use of natural light is not only energy-efficient but also enhances the user's experience. The project focuses on intelligently adjusting lighting levels in work areas near windows to optimize natural light, reducing energy consumption during daylight hours.

Constant Lighting:

In areas where natural light is limited or during evening hours, a constant lighting scheme ensures that the ambiance remains consistent and comfortable for occupants.

Manual Overrides:

Flexibility is a hallmark of modern smart systems. Occupants have the power to adjust lighting levels to suit their preferences through dynamic displays and manual overrides, offering a personalized experience.

HDL Products, Tailoring Solutions to Client Needs:

The project's success story is in part due to the seamless integration of HDL products. These innovative solutions have proven to be instrumental in meeting the diverse needs of the building's multiple end users. With various offices in different stages of fit-out, the flexibility offered by HDL products has allowed for customization and adaptation to specific requirements.

The transformation of the Barrington & Sofrana building from outdated apartments to modern Energy Office and hospitality premises showcases the remarkable potential of smart technology in revitalizing heritage structures. As more heritage buildings around the world embark on similar journeys, the Barrington & Sofrana project serves as an inspiring example of what can be achieved when the past meets the future in perfect harmony.
