Guayaquil is located on the west bank of the Guayas River. Guayaquil is Ecuador's largest city and the most important commercial port in Ecuador because it is vital for most international imports and exports.
The library of the University of the Arts, an iconic project within the city of Guayaquil, was the office of the oldest newspaper in the country called EL TELEGRAFO. It consists of 5 floors in which it is distributed, recreational area, auditorium, meeting rooms, library, theater, cafeteria. It is one of the largest libraries in Ecuador and is currently considered as the library that has installed the most technological products.
HDL was installed for automating lighting, HVAC, energy measurement, safety, etc.
HDL intelligent building system can not only control the light switch and brightness but also realize the timing control, scene control, existence control of light.
The library is equipped with presence sensors, so the lights can be turned on automatically where there comes someone. When there is no one in the stairwell, the lights will automatically be turned off after a delay of 3 minutes. Once the sensor detects someone passing by, the system will turn on the lights at once.
Thanks to illumination sensors, the system can also detect the intensity of natural light and automatically adjust the brightness of indoor lights, which can save a lot of energy, but also bring a more comfortable feeling.
Besides, the system can also control facade lighting regularly. For example, in summer, when the days are longer, the lights on the exterior wall are turned on later in the evening to illuminate the space outside the library.
Areas such as recreational areas, auditoriums, theaters, and restaurants have different lighting requirements, so HDL sets a variety of lighting scenes for different areas on each floor to meet the needs of different activities or atmosphere.
For example, the "entertainment" mode turns on dazzling lights with one button to liven up the room instantly; "read" mode lets the readers bathe in downy lamplight and quietly enjoy reading.
At the same time, the system integrates ordinary switches for light control, which not only enables users to enjoy a new control experience but also retains the user's original habits of the traditional switch control mode.
In addition to lighting, intelligent control of HVAC also brings a very comfortable and pleasant environment to the huge library.
HVAC is allowed to be switched on/off by property managers with the usual infrared remote control, and it also can be turned on/off automatically. Besides, temperature and humidity sensors and air quality sensors are installed in the system. When the temperature, humidity and air quality reach the preset specific standards, the air conditioning and fresh air system are turned on to realize the partition control and automatic control.
The HDL intelligent system can also flexibly integrate third-party devices. Energy consumption meter and security system are integrated for the Library of The University of the Arts in Ecuador.
The data provided by energy consumption meter can help property managers to analyze and summarize the energy consumption situation on time so that they can take more targeted measures.
During the closing, if doors and windows are opened without permission, the HDL smart system will trigger an alarm to alert intruders to ensure the security of library items.
HDL intelligent control system connects kinds of devices to a platform, which is conducive to saving energy and improving efficiency. These are particularly critical for operators of large buildings. Hence, the library has been endowed with intelligent properties, which also enables readers to enjoy a more comfortable reading experience.
