IKEA’s first external warehouse in New Zealand, located at the Landing Business Park in Māngere, Auckland, is more than just a logistics facility—it’s a step toward smarter, more sustainable operations. HDL was proud to provide the lighting and control systems for this milestone project, helping bring both intelligence and efficiency to everyday warehouse functions.
From expansive storage areas to office zones, meeting rooms, restrooms, and external spaces, HDL solution was designed to optimize every aspect of lighting and automation. In the warehouse and office areas, KNX PIR & Lux sensors detect movement and adjust lighting accordingly. Once no motion is detected for 30 minutes, lights automatically turn off—minimizing energy waste without compromising usability.
Meeting rooms and restrooms are equipped with HDL DLP panels and KNX presence sensors, allowing for manual control when needed while maintaining automation for day-to-day efficiency.
Outdoor lighting is handled just as intelligently. Based on real-time ambient brightness, the system turns lights on around 30 minutes before dusk and off again shortly after sunrise.
Beyond lighting, the system includes centralized control through BMS software, and features like logic control, system monitoring, and remote access—making management smarter and more responsive.
By combining automation, safety, and energy-saving features, HDL smart solution supports IKEA’s goal of building facilities that are not only highly functional, but also environmentally conscious and future-ready.
