The Harbin Grand Theatre is an 850,349-square-foot performing arts centre and one of the most iconic cultural landmarks in China. To ensure its spectacular exterior lighting is managed with precision and reliability, the theatre chose HDL smart lighting system—proven to operate flawlessly even under the city's extreme climate conditions.

Before adopting the HDL solution, the theatre relied on manual control for its lighting. Each time took nearly half an hour every day. With the HDL lighting system, staff can schedule lighting or activate scenes with just a few clicks—saving time while ensuring the theatre always shines at its best.

All programming and platform operations were handed directly to the theatre’s staff—most of whom had no technical background. Thanks to HDL’s user-friendly platform, the team can manage schedules and operations independently, achieving smooth, automated control with ease.

Harbin is known for its severe winters, with temperatures often falling below –30℃. HDL modules, installed outdoors without any thermal protection, have continued to perform with outstanding reliability—delivering over eight years of operation without a single failure.

At the Harbin Grand Theater, HDL is not only illuminating a landmark—it’s making lighting management smarter, stronger, and simpler.
