Mehmed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary African Art

Published date:2022/3/24 18:05:00

The place of origin of the Aladdin Lamp in the Arabian Nights, and the Shangri-la where Echo (Ms. Chen Maoping) once led a vagrant life, that’s Morocco, a mysterious country where profuse colors circulate for thousands of years, history comes across and collides with modernity, and art and fashion find their inspirations.

Mehmed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary African Art named after the King of Morocco is the first large-scale public museum built in accordance with international museum standards in Morocco, and about 400 best pieces of Moroccan art are stored here. According to the technical requirements of the museum on lighting design, HDL has recently upgraded the lighting system in the halls and employs the right ambiance to bring out the beauty of contemporary art from this mysterious country.

In the museum, each piece of art needs a high-quality light for the most accurate rendering of color as well as a good control system to precisely manage the lighting luminance and color contrast. With HDL lighting system, the exhibition organizers may freely and conveniently choose suitable lighting parameters for the works in exhibition in the museum. For example, the exposure time of light-sensitive works can be preset in the system to ensure proper protection.

Each work has a soul. On art shows where many works are on exhibition, the artists may employ the visual gradient of lighting to express their intrinsic journey in conception and creation, guide visitors in their appreciation of the creation process, their visual imaging of romance, and start the communication between art and soul. HDL lighting system removes the physical being of lamps in the museum and leaves there only the light itself, rendering best the works on exhibition, and immerging visitors in the unique atmosphere for the healing effect of art. That explains why Mehmed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary African Art has become a resort to tourists, who take pictures during their visit to record and share the beautiful moment.

In order to create different scenario ambiences for different art shows, HDL installed smart panels in the museum for exhibition organizers to recall the preset scenarios at one touch. They may also regulate the lighting manually according to the actual situation to avoid repeated operations unnecessarily.

HDL smart lighting, by light and shadow, gives the museum its soul and reproduces the romance of Arabian Nights through immerged visitor experience and heals everyone who cares to visit.
