Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station in China

Published date:2024/7/22 8:42:14

Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station, one of Asia's largest Transit-Oriented Development Transportation Hubs, is a testament to innovation and efficiency in public transportation. Officially inaugurated on December 26, 2023, this station covers an area of 430,000 square meters, featuring 11 platforms and 24 railway tracks. It can handle a peak hourly passenger flow of 15,364 people, making it one of the busiest railway stations in Asia.

Tackling Energy Efficiency Challenges

With the station’s expansive size and high passenger volume, efficient energy management and operational convenience are critical. The need to streamline energy consumption while maintaining optimal performance posed a significant challenge, especially regarding the control of the countless lights within the complex.

The Chosen Solution for Intelligent Upgrades

To address these challenges, Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station chose HDL for its intelligent upgrades. HDL’s advanced solutions offer a more efficient and convenient way to manage lighting compared to traditional systems. The application of HDL’s iFlex series panels and S10 Touch Panels with the HDL Graview Platform allows for centralized control of lighting across multiple circuits, providing real-time monitoring of energy consumption and equipment status.

Smart Lighting and Energy Management

The station’s design and operational strategy are aligned with the goal of carbon neutrality. Leveraging natural light through skylights and light guide pipes, the station reduces its reliance on artificial lighting. HDL’s system incorporates 700 sensors to monitor ambient brightness in real-time, automatically adjusting the lighting levels to match changing conditions. This intelligent control significantly reduces the need for manual operations, enhancing energy efficiency.

Additionally, the system connected to the BAS+ control platform, interacting with the railway comprehensive information network to obtain schedule information. It automatically adjusts the platform lighting to full brightness when vehicles arrive and switch to energy-saving mode once they depart, optimizing energy use without compromising passenger safety or comfort.

Achieving Seamless Integration and Enhanced Passenger Experience

The highly open feature of the HDL Buspro system allows for seamless integration with the BAS+ control platform. This integration not only streamlines operations but also significantly enhances the passenger experience by ensuring a comfortable and well-lit environment at all times.

In conclusion, the intelligent upgrades implemented at Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station underscore the potential of advanced lighting and energy management systems in large-scale public transportation hubs.
